What do you get when you take three Building Biologists, an Eco-Vegan Gal, a (cute) studio apartment and a desire to be healthy? Oh, right – a healthy home makeover! Yep. And, that’s just what we did on a recent visit to Whitney’ Los Angeles digs. Now, don’t get us wrong, she already lives a really green lifestyle and makes daily strides towards being as healthy as possible. But, that’s where we come in and uncover ‘hidden’ and dangerous toxins that most of us are living with and breathing in…
Every. Single. Day.

Thanks for this video. I like you eat healthy and organic, I take yoga, meditate, use essential oils instead of synthetic medicine, but I didn’t realize there is so much more. Organic hemp towels, love it. And I never knew that orchids are not only beautifully decorating my home, but they’re absorbing chemicals and mold spores. Cool!

Hi Jewels~
Thanks for dropping by + sharing what you do to stay healthy. Every action makes a big difference. And, YES…there is so much to learn about the home and hidden toxins we are exposed to and we are here to help you discover them. To clarify, the Moth Orchid is good at removing chemicals from the indoor air, but the Peace Lily is the plant that absorbs mold spores (great for bathrooms + laundry rooms)! Hope that helps 🙂

i wish i’d known about the peace lily’s ability to absorb mold spores while i was living on the water in the pacific northwest. stunningly beautiful place, but my body just couldn’t handle the moist environment (worst case of asthma ever). plus lilies are my favorite flower! wonderful video, lisa.

Thanks so much April! I assume you are somewhere warm + dry now?! Yes, the potted plants are good, but do require one every 100 sq feet to work effectively. We are big proponents of portable air purifiers for your home (those that include medical grade HEPA filters) to absorb not only mold spores, but VOC’s as well. Wow, this really opened my eyes to lots of the small things that I never really considered before. Like the PVC shower curtain… I never knew that it gave off toxins during a hot shower :/
