The thing is, how can we make sure the products we’re buying are green/sustainable when greenwashing seems to be such a common thing? Obviously, not everyone is lying, but how do we set apart the fake claims from the real deal?
Ron & Lisa says
With consumer products like these above, greenwashing isn’t as much of an issue as it would be with say, household cleaners or cosmetics that have lax oversight and labeling and testing requirements. In the case of the above products, you know what you’re getting in terms of the type of bulbs, energy efficiency, voltage, wattage, warranty, etc.
Reviews are always helpful, too!

I have the OttLite, the best gadget I’ve bought so far! Since I now work from home almost exclusively I wanted something that would make the desk area cleaner, especially now that it’s summer and my window is always open.

Can you please recommend a sustainable robot vacuum cleaner? My dad keeps asking me for suggestions – he really needs ones, just the thought of him not having to vacuum after his cat daily is pure gold – but I’m clueless. From what I’ve seen, the big brands do very little from a sustainability-standpoint.

I am obviously out of the loop, I had no idea robotic lawn mowers are a thing. Dad is a freakabout his lawn, everything has to be just so but lately I see him struggling to keep it up to par, especially with his back issues. This would be a lifesaver!

So many cool suggestions! Buying gifts for mom is pretty easy, she has a lot of hobbies and she’s very outspoken about what she likes. On the other hand, buying a gift for dad is always a challenge… The e-bike might just do the trick this time, he does like biking.

It’s really such a cool gift, Zoey! Glad you enjoy yours. Love that it keeps the cellphone clean, too!

Martin,
We just discovered it, too! Talk about giving dad a break so he can put his feet up and enjoy his fave beverage on a hot day. It’s the gift that keeps on giving 🙂

Great ideas, guys! If budget is an issue, just go for an ethical self-care set or for something related to his passions. Or some nice linen shirt and pant combo, a must in this hot weather! Five years ago I bought dad several sets of coconut and clay dishes that he uses on repeat to this day.
