Valued at $150.00+!! |
Would you like to WIN a Gift Basket Chock-Full of Energy-Efficient Lights for Your Home! 2012 has arrived and we’re lighting up the New Year! If you have read our book Just GREEN It! Simple Swaps to Save the Planet & You Health, then you are already familiar with our recommendation of making the switch to energy efficient lighting such as Light-Emitting Diodes or LEDs. LED’s represent a transformational change in how light is produced. They are versatile and incredibly energy-efficient as their color stability and lumen efficacy continue to increase. Not only are LED’s safe since they stay cool to the touch – making them less of a fire hazard than traditional incandescents or CFL’s – but they outshine others. Our friends at Osram Sylvania (a worldwide leader in LED components and systems) knew this when they created SYLVANIA Integrated LED Light Sources to provide energy savings, longer life, color quality, reliability and sustainability. With passion for light and solutions for life, Osram is the second-largest lighting manufacturer in the world; founded in 1919 and is North America’s #1 lighting company.
Start your New Year off on the right bulb! As we reflect on 2011—its time to lighten and brighten up 2012 with light bulbs from SYLVANIA. Offering the latest in lighting technology, SYLVANIA LED Light Bulbs are high-quality replacements for conventional light sources for both commercial and consumer applications. And, they use existing socket specifications, so installation couldn’t be easier. All SYLVANIA LED Light Bulbs are engineered to perform better and more efficiently than the current technology they replace. Now that is what we call a bright idea!
- 2-pack halogen bulbs (100w replacement)

Thanks for your feedback Dianne! Yes – we, too, love LED’s! They save so much money in the long run, are safer since they stay cool to the touch and do not contain dangerous mercury like CFL’s do.

I have yet to try LED bulbs but am very interested in them. For fixtures that are hard to reach, a long lasting bulb is the best.
Ron & Lisa says
Great point – this is SO true Jean! We have 20 foot high ceilings in our living room and a long lasting LED is essential. Getting a ladder that tall in here is not something we wish to do very often 😉
Best of luck to you!

I have yet to use any of these bulbs but I am going to replace my current light bulbs with them when they burn out. I would love to have this gift in my closet for just such an occasion.

Penny Lynn says
I just don’t understand why every business in the country says ‘enter at facebook’..seems unfair, and ridiculous to believe EVERYONE has a facebook fetish…or the TIME to go there all the time. Some of us with small businesses are so busy, we never were able to catch the ‘social’ bug at facebook, and since we aren’t lemmings, we are glad, but too many contests have to be entered at facebook, and it just seems WRONG, and not even LEGAL to give everyone a chance. WE PROTEST. But thanks, we do love LED and put it in the art studio…
Ron & Lisa says
Hello Penny,
To clarify, you do not need a Facebook account to enter. There is a link below the Facebook button (above in the grey box) that says ‘or use your name and email.’
We hope this helps!
Rita Anderson says
A nice selection. I would love to have them.
I agree with Penny on the facebook issue.
Ron & Lisa says
Good luck Rita! Thanks for the feedback – but not sure the Facebook comment is an issue since it is not a requirement to enter the sweepstakes. It is merely one of many options provided 😉
Laurie Harrison says
I use LED and winning this would be wonderful. So…go ahead, lay some Debbie Boone on me. LOL
Ron & Lisa says
Haaaa – Bring it on Debbie B! We can’t wait to ‘light up’ one lucky winners life! Good luck to you Laurie 🙂

Tamara Davis says
I was under the impression that LED bulbs got hot but haven’t any personal experience with them. My husband tried using an LED flood-type lamp with a socket extender in a recessed light fixture and it got hot.
Ron & Lisa says
Hello Tamara,
Based on the LED (Light-Emitting Diode) technology, LED lighting is much more efficient by producing less heat, hence utilizing less electricity. This is why LED’s remain much cooler than traditional incandescents (however, they do produce a minimal amount of heat). In contrast, incandescents release 90% of their energy as heat. We hope this helps!

Bill says
very interesting but expensive “alternative”
Ron & Lisa says
Bill,
Upfront, LED’s cost more, but long-term, they are less expensive in terms of energy costs. For example, the U.S. Department of Energy estimates that if every household switched to LED holiday lights, the US would save approximately $410 million in electricity costs (LED’s can save up to 90% more energy compared to their incandescent counterparts)!

Love energy efficient Lighting!
