The Indoor Air Quality / IQ Connection

A University of Southern California and UCLA Center for Health Policy Research study suggests teen exposure to poor air quality could reduce IQ levels long-term by posing adverse effects on brain structure and function. Breathing polluted air can impair memory and reasoning, reduce academic performance, and even lower intelligence, according to research. In fact, the study revealed that ‘for every increase of 2.5 micrograms per meter cubed (µg/m³) of fine-particle pollution (PM2.5) surrounding the teens’ homes, their performance IQ score dropped one point.’ According to Pan Wang, a lead author of the study,

Air pollution may have adverse effects on brain structure.”

  3. A couple years ago we bought the big IQ AIR with the gas cartridge in it along with the others. Pre, Charcoal, etc. It has been such a blessing in the winter since I develop asthma. We also have a cat in the house and when we shut the doors in the fall we run the big filter and I can make it thru the winter with no breathing problems. In the summer it also helps with allergies but most of the time we have the doors open so I don’t run it all the time. I love it!

  8. I love the small air purifier because I have to live on an oxygen machine and because I am allergic to tobacco smoke and dust and my grandson lives with us and he smokes and he lives with us. He reeks with smoke and I need the purifier in my bedroom

  32. I was impressed by how quickly the smoked filled chamber cleared up with IQ air purifier. We went through surrounding fires this last year and smoke filled air lasted quite a while. I think this product would have been so helpful during that time and for every day pollutions as well.

  41. I haven’t tried any of the products yet. However, if I should win this contest, the prize would quickly become my favorite household appliance. I hate the musty smell in my very old trailer. Nothing seems to make it go away, no matter what I use or how much I clean. I’ve tried a small air purifier in the past and while it worked somewhat, it wasn’t large enough to be really effective. It malfunctioned after a few months too, and I haven’t been able to purchase another. So, yes, I know this better air purifier you are offering would quickly become my favorite, because it would definitely give me a fresher, healthier air to breathe, and make me proud of my home again.

  48. I would give my right hand for a IQAIR GC MULTIGAS. Here’s why; my husband smokes 2 packs a day in the house. I don’t smoke. In the morning it makes me sick. Also, I live in an extremely dusty, dirty farm house. I spend hours and hours dusting to no avail. I just dream of breathing clean air all the time.
