Without further ado, Rachel, welcome to the show. Rachel Larraine Crawford 03:53 Thank you so much. I'm so honored to be here. Lisa Beres 03:57 Thank you for being with us today. We are thrilled this is such a fascinating topic, something that really aligns with our podcast and our mission and something that we personally love and incorporate. We incorporate bits of this, but I know we're going to learn so much today. And I know our listeners are really excited. We've touched upon some of this with guests in the past, but we're going to dive really deep today. So, we're so happy to have you with us. So strangely enough, this interview is taking place during mercury in retrograde. Listeners if you aren't familiar with what that is. It's based on an astrological event that happens several times a year where the planet Mercury appears to spin backwards. As the ruler of communication and technology. We tend to be hit with mishaps when it comes to travel or computers and even our communication with others. Ron Beres 04:48 Oh Rachel, before we get started, we love to put you on the spot and tell our listeners how to best handle this period of time that can present on foreseeing challenges. Rachel Larraine Crawford 05:02 And we actually have six planets in retrograde right now. Lisa Beres 05:06 Oh my God, no wonder that explains my social media mishaps. Rachel Larraine Crawford 05:15 But you know what I welcome a retrograde because this is really the time to slow down, it's a time to review is a time to assess. So, it gives us a pause. So, we get to kind of come back and realign with and really create sacred space within ourselves to see okay, where do how do I want to proceed forward? What's not working right now? And how can I shift in order to do that. So, I'm kind of in the space of welcoming all of that, even though it can be a little unnerving, or rocky. And there's all these things of fear that surrounds it. But the truth is, there's more times than not something is in retrograde. And it's very rare to have all the planets moving forward, which is really funny, because I got my chart read by an astrologer on a talk. She's amazing. She's in Australia. And she's like, every planet that you have, there's no Retrogrades and you don't really see that. And usually, if there's no Retrogrades, that person can like, just move fast into the realms and just get things going. So yes, I have no Retrogrades in my heart, so I'm always like, okay, let's bring it forward to me, because I am just fast. And at times, I need to slow down and ground a little bit. Lisa Beres 06:25 Wow. So that's based on your birth date, and all of that right. So, you literally don't have any. Wow, I'd like to find that out. I definitely have some in mind. I don't even need to reading I know. Rachel Larraine Crawford 06:36 Yeah. And if you do have those Retrogrades it's just kind of like a little highlight. It's like a piece to like Okay, let's take a look at that and see how does that play in your life? Lisa Beres 06:43 Yeah, and actually, when this first happened when Ron and I first discovered I don't want to take up too much time on this, but when Ron and I first discovered Mercury in Retrograde, it was like a battle right? Like, oh my god, it must be Mercury in Retrograde. It's so annoying, like, my computer's having problems, or I just got in a fight with someone over a complete misunderstanding. Oh, no. Right. I mean, those things are some of travel delay, or these things that really, really do happen during this period. And I had read a lot of articles we had a Feng Shui guest blogger who said it's the RE time - the RE. So, everything that begins with RE so rests, like you said, review, revisit rewrite if you're working on a writing project. And that really helps me rest. Right now, I'm a little under the weather. It's like rest, like I need to take care of my body right now. And kind of embrace it and realize, I heard one time that it's kind of like a trickster, but in a funny way, like playing prank, but also to make you like, Haha, you thought your computer was so important right? Now I'm going to give you a challenge and see if you can live with that for a day. Rachel Larraine Crawford 07:45 Exactly. And Mercury rules, Gemini. And if you think of Gemini as they're kind of fun, and they're social, and they're all over the place, and they can switch on you really fast. So, it's kind of got that. Definitely that energy. Lisa Beres 07:58 Okay, yeah. So now I've made peace with it in I have noticed like, Yeah, they'll still be little things. But it's not like before we felt like friction and like a battle. I was mad at it before. Now I'm like, Okay, well, I needed that lesson. You know, I'm spending too much time on my phone or whatever. Ron Beres 08:13 That's a great point. It's funny, Rachel, I loved how you painted the brush of positivity with your birth chart reading right with the astrology no planets in retrograde. But I realized I did this a while ago, too. And I realized that I was born when Mercury in Retrograde was in session. So, stroke that I created for myself. And I actually heard this too, when I and people like me 20% that are born during Mercury Retrograde that it doesn't affect us as much or it affects us more positive way. So that's how I handled Yeah. And I was feeling really good about myself until you told me you had none. I rethink what I thought that was knocked off. Rachel Larraine Crawford 08:49 That's fantastic. Because it's like you were born in that. So, you get how to handle this energy, like you're in that space. So, it's totally a positive. Lisa Beres 09:00 That's so cool. We're going to get into so much of this today, you guys, so hang with us. In fact, let's get started. Because we're really talking about how the home in our space relates to all of this energy. So, Rachel, tell us in our listeners, how you got into holistic home design to begin with. Rachel Larraine Crawford 09:13 Yeah, so I've always been intrigued with spirituality and connection with energy and ancestors and all that sort of thing. And I went to school for interior design. So, I graduated in 2005, with my associates and interior design, and I was doing that full time and I went to became pregnant with my first son in 2010. I think something a work within me just on a spiritual level, like really tapping into wanting to have a natural birth and calling in my ancestors and being fully empowered and connected to the baby on a whole other level. And so that kind of sparked these little things. And then in 2014, there was a point in my career where the current job that we're working on kind of dried up and I had the opportunity to finally go out on my own if I wanted or work for somebody else, and I decided to jump in when I Did that the notion of being able to study or create my business the way I want sparked a little bit and I first year and design school, my first class ever, the teacher mentioned Fung Shui. And it was always something that kind of just stuck with me. And as soon as I came to the point of knowing that I can do anything, and however I wanted, I was like, Oh, I can go back and I can actually learn Feng Shui and I can get certified, I don't need to ask anyone's permission to take off a work and just fully be involved. And so that's what I did. And then from there, I learned about Reiki and I was like, I gotta do that. And I became a Reiki Master. And then there was this taught this pull between, like the spiritual world that I was in and learning tarot, and all this other stuff. And then when I went to school for web design, and I felt like I was almost turning my back on design, because I was so enthralled and intrigued with the spiritual stuff. And I came to a point where I was able to integrate both of them. And that's where it really happened. So that's kind of the mix of both of those worlds. Now, Rachel, Ron Beres 10:57 you must have had an inclination that you had a talent for this or deeper feeling in your soul, or essence, or whatever it is, to be innately good at what you do, right? I don't want to put words in your mouth, or do typically people just, is this just a learned trait that anyone can do, or some people are going to be just better than others? Rachel Larraine Crawford 11:11 I feel like it's more about like opening up your intuition, opening up what you already have inside and allowing that doorway to open. And we can always close that door if we're not open to those possibilities. So, I feel like anyone can really tap into their intuition and hone in on these different skills. I learned so much in the Feng Shui classes that it was like, oh, there's names for these things. There are names for energetic clearings that I had no idea that there were terms for the things that I was already doing. And that was just a really neat way of opening up that space. Lisa Beres 11:41 I love that. It's so true. The intuition that you mentioned, we love to listen to a lot of spiritual slash inspirational, motivational, metaphysical teacher is Florence Scovel Shinn, have you heard of her? Rachel Larraine Crawford 11:52 Oh, no. Lisa Beres 11:53 Oh, you gotta get it, The Game of Life and How to Play It, it's just three books. And she was back in the 1920s. And teaching classes and doing readings on metaphysical at a time when people still think this is all woowoo. And until you sort of tap in, like you said, or maybe have an experience mean, sometimes people have like a near death experience. Yeah, or whatever that may be. I grew up with a very spiritual mother, who at one time was a nun, and then became very, very spiritual. And so, I said this on another show, I was going to crystal fairs and psychics at a very young age with her, so I was just very open minded. So, nothing really surprises me. And I learned to really hone in on the intuition. And I think if listeners take nothing out of the show today, I hope you really listen to there's a little voice, and it's always nice. It's not mean, it's not going to make you feel it doesn't look good, or Oh, she has that, or do you really want to do that. But it doesn't talk like that. If you hear that voice. That's not your that's not your higher self. That's your ego, and deciphering the two because your intuition is very gentle, and it always wants the best for you. And we went out to dinner. Some friends were in town, they're like, let's meet. I wasn't feeling good. I knew I shouldn't go. But I'm a type of person that wants to give you my word. I'm going to go all the way. Right? I was like, oh, man, I really need to cancel. But they're coming into town. And it's not that far. Oh, my intuition was like, dont go, don't go. Just okay, you gotta cancel. I didn't, I went. And guess what, there was a huge mix up, they ended up at a totally different restaurant, we ended up not seeing them. I burned out my adrenals. And I got sicker. Just a little tiny example of that. My intuition told me not to go and I ignored it. So, the consequence of ignoring that. Ron Beres 13:35 Yeah, for sure. So, Rachel, speaking of lessons, at least had a lesson for intuition. Just one, and this is you don't have to up her intuition lesson. But what have been your biggest lessons thus far in your career? Rachel Larraine Crawford 13:50 I think, at the very beginning, when I went off on my own, I ignored red flags. So, the lesson of again, not listening to intuition. And knowing deep down inside that this wasn't the right client to be working with was huge. And I do a lot of talks that, like, I'll do talks, but like San Diego State and go in. And you know, we're so eager to talk to these design students who are so eager to get their first job and to get out into the world and do what we need to do. And we're like, so desperate to take anything and everything that we can get our hands on. But I always share this with them. It's like if you feel something that's not quite right, you don't have to take that position. You don't have to take that job. You're interviewing them just as much as they're interviewing you and you're in a partnership and you're going to work extremely close with them. And you're going to know you're in their dirty laundry, you're in all of it. So, it's like you need to make sure that it's going to support you and also energetically to write even getting these clients that suck the life out of you. Oh my god. Lisa Beres 14:51 That's a good lesson for entrepreneurs. Anybody. Yeah, and that is true. We had a woman I hope she's not listening. I'm not going to say her name. She means well, but I knew Ron don't work with her. She's going to suck you dry, not financially, energetically. She would call me call me text me text me call me call me text me. I didn't even that made a penny firmer yet. Because I was just, she's like, I don't know how to pay you online, I'm old school. And I'm like, Ah, this went on and on and on. Finally, I was like, I can't. It takes a tapping into your bravery to do that to say no, say no. No is a superpower. I always say, I had to just say I'm sorry. I can't work with you. I didn't even give her a reason. Rachel Larraine Crawford 15:35 You don't need to. Lisa Beres 15:36 Why people do that though. Like, I can't go to your event or your party or whatever. And then that goes on and on with the crazy excuses or that can be a great or don't realize it doesn't matter. Yeah. No is the sentence. No, is a complete sentence, right? Just No, thank you. Thank you. It sounds lovely. But I'm not able to. It's very powerful when you can get tapped into that way. Rachel Larraine Crawford 16:01 Absolutely. Lisa Beres 16:02 Okay, so I read about the services you offer on your website, including energy healing, where you, I'm going to quote this create sacred space by grounding the energy in the room and create a protective bubble by releasing any negative or dark energy in the space and calling clean, clear energy and guides, ancestors or animal spirits in alignment with your higher self. I love that. We're very much into animal spirits at family Beres, can you share with our listeners some of your ceremonies for new build homes and buildings and embedding crystals in the structures foundations? Rachel Larraine Crawford 16:39 Yeah, absolutely. It's one of my favorite things. So, I went to Ireland to study under my Feng Shui teacher and Shaman. Her name is Amanda, Sophia. And then the shaman is Alex Stark. And we got to go to Ireland and create ceremony at sacred sites and just really connect with the land and introduce ourselves for the land and be one with it and on a different level. So, I like to incorporate a lot of those ceremonies and practices that we did there with the home. So, one home in particular, we connected with the land before we demoed the old house, and the client brought her a family album she brought like her favorite wine. Her husband's family was really into orchards and with their family growing up. So, she brought apples and jams and favorite games. And we created a beautiful caring structure, which is just a rock formation that we gathered from their property. And we brought different pieces. I brought rice to represent my Filipino heritage and oh, and sugar. So, we were just like giving these beautiful offerings, and she introduced herself. Like I said, she brought her albums, and she was just sharing with the property, who they are. What are their intentions for living in this space? What are they going to do for the land, and it was just a really beautiful way to connect with the property before they did anything with it. Because you're digging into the land, you're digging into the dirt, and it's just so invasive, and also with the animals that are living there. Like oh my gosh, what's going on? Like? Lisa Beres 18:08 Drive me nuts. Yeah, I see it here. We live in Orange County, California. Well, not too far from you. You're in San Diego, and developments, developments, developments, developments, developments. And then you see, I mean, Ron and I had a cougar in our neighborhood one time and I'm like the cougar got booted out of his land. And the bunnies and the hawks and the hawks don't have the mice, it affects its trickles, right. It affects all of the animals. And so, we are big animal lovers, we're vegan. And we do a lot to try to help animals because it's really sad. You can see the disrespect for that. Just the build it, tear it down, build it, and there's nowhere are the where are those animals supposed to go? There's such a part of our joy. So yeah, I agree with you like taking that thought and care that's so beautiful. Ron Beres 18:51 There really is. And I thought that was interesting, too, that you're doing this ritual and recreating the sacred space. And I liked how you had these people come in and they read their favorite one. And they're embarking on creating a long-term positive journey for themselves and their family. That's a great way to look at it. Lisa Beres 19:04 So neat. I've never heard of that. Now, what did they do with all this stuff? It was just there to kind of represent the new. Rachel Larraine Crawford 19:10 Yeah, so we were just there like giving an offering to like essentially the property and then afterward, we closed our circle by just giving gratitude and we pulled cards and that kind of thing. And then later on just before we poured the foundation, I created a crystal grid, which corresponded to her intentions for what she has with the home, and the Fung Shui Bagua Map. So, the Bagua map focuses on nine different areas of our lives. And so, I infused her intentions with that map and created a grid. And then I corresponded crystals that connect with the intentions and the different parts of the home and I created physical crystals laid out with sacred geometry into the foundation, and we wrote out her intentions and she put it underneath the major generator crystal, so then they pour the cement on top of all of it, so it's just nicely encased. Ron Beres 20:00 Um, so you had met nine, you said nine areas? You can you can you mentioned a few of them? If not, Rachel Larraine Crawford 20:06 Okay, yeah. So, you've got the space of career and fame and reputation. You have love and marriage or your relationships, you have creativity, you have children. So, kind of in that space, wisdom, and you've got money and prosperity. And then you also have health, and then helpful travel and people connections with all of that as well. Lisa Beres 20:30 So, wow, that fear of working with a client? Do you have to have the floor plan to have the like Bagua placed over that? Or can you do that just if you see a house or? Rachel Larraine Crawford 20:38 Yeah, so you really want to work with the floorplan and you came and go like on Google Earth and look down on the house? You know, as you can see the shape? Oh, yeah, then you can put that map because the map is, is square. And you know, houses come in different shapes and sizes. So sometimes houses need to maps on there, if it's like an L shape. So yeah, you're just putting the map right on top of that house based on the directions? Lisa Beres 21:01 Yeah, have you ever encountered a client or a situation where it wasn't going to be good to dig into the land? Rachel Larraine Crawford 21:07 I had a client where her condo. So, with Flying Stars, it's a little bit more complicated, because we get the exact degree of where the house sits and faces plus the year the house was actually born. So, it's almost like an astrological chart of the house. So, it gets really intense. And then the energies change every year as the years progress. And it's a mathematical calculation. And based on the numbers that are there, there's a different energy and you balance things out with different remedies. And her condo in particular, it was just like, almost like no winning the shape of the place, the energy of the place. She was so sick, like she was constantly sick. And there were ties, bad ties relationships with like her family. And it was just like, usually there's a lot of remedies or there's things you can do to change it. And we did clearings and all kinds of stuff. But my recommendation at the end of all of it was like you just need to move it's just not. Lisa Beres 21:59 No crystal is big enough. Find a big enough, crystal. Yeah. Rachel Larraine Crawford 22:02 Well, when it starts to like, affect your health, it's like that's on a different level. Lisa Beres 22:08 Well, I was with my good girlfriend yesterday, she treated me to a spa day. And the lady by the way, the masseuse was like I'm going to do a little Reiki healing. God, I was like, this is so beautiful. I don't really know a lot about Reiki, but I'm like, go for it. But um, she was talking about how she's really picky when she goes to hotels with her boyfriend, and they travel a lot. And like she goes, Oh, wait to change a room. You know, if the rooms not right? He'll take a view of the parking lot, a nice hotel. And I said, I'm the same way. I said, because I think the rooms have energy. And you could go into a hotel in one room. It's like, Oh, my God, you feel good? None and other room? You don't? I don't know, that could also be conversations that happened in their guests that were there. Right. So, which takes us to smudging. Right? Do you want to talk a little bit about that? Since we've kind of mentioned at the top of his show? Rachel Larraine Crawford 22:55 Yeah. So, I love to clear spaces with herbs and oils that are connected to the intentions that we're bringing into the space and also with our heritage. So, I will ask a client, like what is it that they're wanting to clear out and what is it that they're wanting to bring in. So, based on whatever those intentions are, will kind of guide me as far as which herbs, I'll use, I use a lot of rosemary for clearing, I also will use herbs to bring in certain things. So, like in my heritage, the Filipino side, I'm also Irish, but my mom does a lot of cooking. And we always use bay leaves and bay leaves have just like this magical proponent to it. And so I'll burn bay leaves to set intention wishes to come into the space or if you connect with the client, and maybe there's some sort of an herb that's really sacred in their own ancestry, then, you know, we can incorporate that and I also will make my own incense. So, I will grind up the herbs I put in different oils and resins and I make my own little incense concoction. And then I burn it on a tropical death just loosely and I kind of bring that throughout the house. Lisa Beres 24:08 That's beautiful. Wow, do you like those Palo Santos sticks? Rachel Larraine Crawford 24:12 Yeah, I mean, those are really beautiful, nice. You just have to be really careful about where you source it from because it is from a tree that's not highly sustainable. It takes about nine years for it to mature before they can harvest it. So, you just have to be really careful with that and you can clear home without any of that stuff. You can just open up the windows open up the doors, go around the home with your hands, your hands have so much power. There's chakra centers, energy centers there too and just combing corners and the walls and just using intention and your mind to kind of just clear the space I always envision like almost like drains going down each of the corners of the house and just having that energy go back into mother or so that she can transform that into something else. And then I envision like the lid of the house or the roof of the house. kind of opening up and letting that sunlight just trickle in and bring in the energy that you want. Lisa Beres 25:05 This is so it is so amazing. Wow. I have a personal question. We have a staircase that goes right to the front door and I know in Feng Shui that's not good. It can take the good energy out, correct? Rachel Larraine Crawford 25:17 Yeah. So, it's a fast energy that anytime energy that goes downstairs, it's super-fast. And that's just energy that's going right back outside your house. That's why. Lisa Beres 25:26 So, we, I guess we really didn't address it. And then recently, we bought a Feng Shui crystal ball that you're supposed to hang on, like the stair banister. But there's a little window that's kind of high to the side, and I put it there. Do you think that would work? Or does it have to actually be in the path of the stairs? Rachel Larraine Crawford 25:43 Yeah, and there's a lot of stuff with the Feng Shui. It's like, it's also intention, just like, Okay, what I'm going to set this here with the intention that that energy is going to slow down, or it's going to reflect back into the space. So, I think by even just holding that crystal setting the intention of what it's going to be doing and placing it there is plenty. Lisa Beres 26:03 Okay? I just love Feng Shui. I think it's so fascinating and the things that people can do, if you're listening that, like maybe you have a horrible work environment, and you're just, it's icky. There are things you can do. Oh, yeah, right. There are things you can do. Even if you're in a cubicle, you don't have to have your own office space, even, there's so many things you can do. We're going to get plugs to your website. And double Tiger Veil right. Tiger Veil is your main website, Tiger Veil, we're going to put links to that in the show notes. Rachel can help you guys with that. Ron Beres 26:30 I'm curious. I know. We're talking about wealth and listening so that that's certainly piqued my interest. But how does health play a part in your designing? Rachel Larraine Crawford 26:37 So, with health, I'm looking at products that coming into the home. So, making sure that you know we're getting paints that are zero VOC. We're looking at products that have the least amount of off gassing. I'm also looking at where is this coming from? are we traveling over the water? Like how far did it get here? What's the carbon footprint? And what are the practices of the manufacturers that are actually creating these products? And what does that look like? And then how can we repurpose? How can we reuse what we already have some bringing that in and then also like with plants and making sure that we've got fresh plants in the space that can clean the air that can bring this beautiful life into the space? So, there's all kinds of things that we can do there? Ron Beres 27:17 Now Rachel, we've done shows on a very popular indoor house air cleaning plants. What's one of your go-tos that you'd like implemented into home? Rachel Larraine Crawford 27:25 This guy Ron Beres 27:27 Oh, wow. Rachel Larraine Crawford 27:31 Wow, this one my favorite one. I think it's a Pothos, Lisa Beres 27:35 Yeah. Golden Pothos. Rachel Larraine Crawford 27:36 Yeah. So, I just love them because you can put them anywhere. And it's like once they start to weld, or they you can tell that they're like, not happy. You just water them and give them love and they bounce right back. So, it's not like you're, if you're afraid or you have a black thumb, I feel like you can always... Ron Beres 27:55 Because plants love dirt. And it isn't dirt kind of black or brown. They should love that right. But why does it have to be green? Lisa Beres 28:02 Well, we did. Yeah, we did a video at our local garden here at Rogers garden. Have you ever been to Rogers garden in Corona del Mar? Oh, you would have to make a trip to the garden. Actually, if you like Halloween, they have a really amazing Halloween display on right now. So, you toward the garden. There's bumblebees and butterflies and hummingbirds flying and you're just strolling through this gorgeous garden. And then they have this Halloween incredible display of creativity. And then they have a gorgeous restaurant called farmhouse where you're like sitting out in the garden with chandeliers like hanging above you. It's a very healing amazing space. And so, we did an episode there where we were telling everyone about the plants and we had the guy plants, right, the bachelor plants, plants that you really can't kill. So, if you have a black thumb you say? I think the spider plant is one, right? Yeah, it's like almost impossible to kill, obviously a cactus or anything in that family. But I thought that was funny. Have you encountered people who are like, this is just crazy? I don't believe this. This is woo woo. Are you finding people are becoming more and more like, oh my gosh, I'm getting this? This makes sense. Rachel Larraine Crawford 29:08 Yeah. So, I'll mention it. Like not all my design clients are into like all the energy stuff. And they're like, just straight up design clients. So, all mentioned a little bit and if they seemed intrigued by it, or they want to know more, they'll light up and they'll like be like, what, but what do you do? Like I need to add and I need to add that and I've never had anybody say anything negative to me about it, but maybe because I don't give them the opportunity to either. Like I'm not like pushing it on anyone or I'm not trying to sell anybody on it. I mentioned a little something and if they don't bite then it's like, okay, we go to the next thing. Lisa Beres 29:43 Yeah, you want to attract those people who value it right? Yeah, because we're I'm finding people are just getting so much more savvy with all of this. And you know, it starts with food and like learning how toxic our food is and how we need to like get rid of all these GMOs and artificial colors and flavors. And yeah, starts with food. And then we've done show I forget the episode Dr. Anna blessing on energy healing, and she has a center in Tucson. And all they do is frequency medicine. And she educates us so much. She's a friend to like, oh my god, you guys, everything is going to be energy healing in the future, everything we're already like, they're just not in the mainstream, like the mainstream isn't there. But the technology exists, and the success exists. And it's pretty amazing. Because it's noninvasive. It's everything you would want and like healing modalities. And so, it's great to see people embracing that. I love that. Ron Beres 30:36 So, you had us focused on health earlier. And I'm just curious, before we go here, there like one or two go-to's, I've heard like if you have a fountain of water or waterfall in front of your home, and you can attract more Feng Shui prospective, more abundance into your home and life. Yes. Give us a couple go-to's. Rachel Larraine Crawford 30:52 Okay, yeah, so water does represent money, prosperity and abundance. Okay, so when we come to money and Fung Shui, we're looking at the leaks like literal leaks. So, if you've got any leaks in your sinks, or toilets, anywhere that's leaking water hose, like you want to tighten all that up, you want to get that fixed. Because it's both energetic prosperity and abundance, like leaving you as well as our physical money, because water is literally going down the drain. So, you want to look at that. And speaking of water, if you've got a body of water on your property, whether it's swimming pool, a spa, pond, whatever it is, you want to make sure that that water is clean and clear. So, you don't want anything growing in it that's not healthy and happy. Because you gotta think of money being also chi and energy and you want that to flow. So, you want money to flow, you don't want it to be stagnant and like kind of brown Lisa Beres 31:49 Clean those poles! Rachel Larraine Crawford 31:51 People have like water fountains, and they're all dried up. Yeah. Oh, no, no, we need to like get that money flowing. Right. So yeah, Lisa Beres 31:57 I have hummingbird feeders, does that count? I clean those feeders every day, there's the hummingbirds are like. Rachel Larraine Crawford 32:05 Making sure if you are going to have a fountain keep it up. If not, then get rid of it. Like don't do it. The other thing too is if you are going to have a fountain you want that money, that water to flow toward your home, because you want the money to come to you. Versus like flowing out into the street or facing out of your home. So, you want to look at the direction of water as well. And then the other thing was like wealth and abundance, I'm always looking at the plants making sure that they're happy. And they're healthy, because their health is also super important when it comes to prosperity and abundance. Like if you don't have your health like you can't produce you can't create you can't do all those things. And our plants are huge reflection of our health. So, making sure that those plants that are dying, that they get taken care of or they get replaced or something happens with them. The other thing too is clutter. That's huge for stickiness. So, if you've got clutter in the home, like you want to be able to clear that out before you do anything. So that that again, that energy can flow. And then I'm also looking at doorways. So, if you've got doors that have stuff hanging on them, or you can't open them fully, or you're blocking doors or doors of you know, opportunity that's not able to come to you you're like literally blocking opportunities from happening. Ron Beres 33:18 So, Rachel quick question. So, door jambs, right? Door jambs in the front door. Lisa Beres 33:25 Ron is very protective. Okay, we have door jambs on our house, in addition to the deadbolt, he gets the door jambs at the security lock store that go under the door. Now you've told everybody that was about to break into. At night when we're sleeping. Ron Beres 33:42 Yeah, of course. Rachel Larraine Crawford 33:43 No, it's fine. You're fine. Lisa Beres 33:48 Oh, my goodness. Okay, so Rachel, what's good for new homes and businesses to consider. I love how you talked about embedding the crystal into the foundation, and the blessing is there anything else? Rachel Larraine Crawford 34:00 When you're coming into a new home or even a new business or you're taking space for the first time I love to create the letter to the home or letter to the buildings just introducing who you are? Where do you come from? What's the intention that you have for this space? What are you looking forward to creating in this space just as a way to connect with the home? Lisa Beres 34:19 That's great. Yeah, honoring every part of it. That's so beautiful. I really love that. Ron Beres 34:24 Well thank you for these tips and tricks. I know there's much more to this than just this conversation essentially is really interesting. So, Rachel, many of these people might think this is just woo woo and this doesn't mean anything but there are some very large organizations and corporations in the world particularly I think in Japan that incorporate Feng Shui to attract goodness to the company. Absolutely. Do you know of one of these companies that we might know that's a well-known brand? Rachel Larraine Crawford 34:49 Okay, so take for example casinos and maybe this isn't like the more positive Fung shui of it. This is like the real stuff of Fung Shui is casinos will use Fung Shui in it. way to benefit them that might not be so ethically. So, like having the carpets really confusing. So, you can't wait make your way back out of the casino you get lost and there, there's no window so you have no idea of time. So, kind of in this place where you don't know what's happening, there's no time. And then also they're pumping in like oxygen to keep you awake and alert and keeping it really cool. So, there's this so yeah, oh, I was just going to say that when I believe was when MGM first open, you actually walk through the mouth of the lion. I'm bad. That's really bad Feng Shui for a lot of people, the Chinese culture and any other big-time gamblers that were coming in, and they would not enter. Lisa Beres 35:45 I remember because I grew up in Arizona, and not too far from Vegas. And I remember that being all over the news like oh my god, like what it talks about a design flub. That design firm got fired, apparently. Just kidding. So, there's still the arts that the lions are on the outside, I think, yeah. Isn't that interesting. And I heard this before, I would love your opinion, like spiritual symbols and spiritual tokens, or totems, whatever we want to call them don't really have a good or bad power. It's what we bring to him. So, like, the swastika actually wasn't a bad symbol, it went way back in history, and it was actually was like Buddhist, or whoever used it, they use it as a good symbol. And then it was turned bad by Hitler and the Nazis and all of that. Is that true? Do you know anything about that? Rachel Larraine Crawford 36:31 I don't know anything in particular about that symbol. I can say that, we put so much value into certain things. And something that means nothing to one person can mean everything for someone else. And it's just like a lucky penny. How much power does the lucky penny have on a little kid that finds it? And they just treasure that forever? And it's with them as a sacred token? And for someone else? It's trash? Really? Lisa Beres 36:55 Yeah. So, we bring that energy, it's our energy, right? The energies coming through us and those things, things have symbolism for sure. Rachel Larraine Crawford 37:01 There's so much symbolism in our human history and what certain things mean and how the psychology of our brains and how we evolved, and there definitely are symbols, especially even with color, and all of that that's integrated into how we think. Yeah, that's amazing. Lisa Beres 37:18 Okay, last question. What is your dream design? Rachel Larraine Crawford 37:22 I think having more of that project that I did in Encinitas, just being able to connect with the land connect with the client on that level. And then also just the collaboration that I was able to do with other artists, people here locally, to give a voice to all of them and to be showcased within that space. And the clients were just so beautiful. Like, I had my dream job, and I welcome more of those dreams. And that was an art gallery that you actually collaborated with there in San Diego. Who is that? Yeah, so once we got toward the end of the project, we needed to get art. And so, art, a lot of times, if the client doesn't already have an art collection, we'll curate art for them, and with them in collaboration, so yeah, there's a gallery here in Solana Beach that just opened up. It's called the long gallery and Eric is The Gallerist. And we collaborated on different pieces of art. And we brought art into the home. And we brought artists in. And it was just a really neat way to incorporate the community here with the space itself. And same thing with IKEA furniture. I've had a dining room table that was built, it's 12 feet long. And it came from a tree that fell or had to be cut down because it was dying in Coronado at the Children's Park, and San Diego urban timber as a local company that salvage these trees, and they mill them and we were able to make a beautiful dining table in her. Lisa Beres 38:42 Oh, that's so beautiful. Rachel Larraine Crawford 38:44 Yeah, it's absolutely gorgeous has these beautiful life edges, and she got to go down to where they were making it. And she picked her slab and did a whole thing down there too. With that company in particular, we're just I'm so close with them. And I did a clearing for them and their new property and I did a blessing with the trees. And so yeah, they're just really special. Lisa Beres 39:03 Oh my gosh, that is so good. I wonder how many trays like that are repurposed or some of them are just disposed of. Rachel Larraine Crawford 39:09 Yeah, usually, a lot of times what they do is they just chop them up and they stick them in a landfill. Lisa Beres 39:15 Yes, heartbreaking. Wow. We're doing good. But we have a long way to go I think right in terms of like awakening to our connection to all of that. Alright, and lastly, tell our listeners about your design business launch Tiger Veil.
