William J. Rea, M.D. is a thoracic, cardiovascular and general surgeon with an added interest in the environmental aspects of health and disease. Founder of the Environmental Health Center – Dallas (EHC-D) in 1974, Dr. Rea is currently director of this highly specialized Dallas-based medical facility. Author of five medical textbooks, Chemical Sensitivity (V. 1-4), Reversibility of Chronic Degenerative Disease and Hypersensitivity, V. 1: Regulating Mechanisms of Chemical Sensitivity, and co-author of Your Home, Your Health and Well-Being, he also published the popular “how to” book on building less polluted homes, “Optimum Environments for Optimum Health and Creativity. Dr. Rea currently serves on the board and is president of the American Environmental Health Foundation, vice president of the American Board of Environmental Medicine and previously served on the board of the American Academy of Environmental Medicine.
Lisa Lavine Nagy M.D. graduated Magna Cum Laude from The University of Pennsylvania and then from Cornell Medical College in 1986. After a surgical internship, she completed Emergency Medicine residency in NYC and practiced in Los Angeles until becoming severely ill (Addison’s Disease, Mitochondrial Myopathy, Dysautonomia) –as a result of a complex medical condition known as Chemical Sensitivity or Environmental Illness. Dr. Nagy is now president of Preventive and Environmental Health Alliance. She was appointed as a delegate to the Massachusetts Medical Society and to the CDC’s National Conversation on Chemicals and Public Health. Chef Tanya was classically trained in the Culinary Arts and graduated at the top of her class from the California School of Culinary Arts with a Le Cordon Bleu Diploma; receiving the President’s honor every term during her culinary training. Tanya’s experiences include stints in traditional fine dining restaurants, catering, and as an instructor at both the Laguna Culinary Arts in Laguna Beach, CA and Bloomingdales in Newport Beach. She also has served as Executive Chef at the Hotel Halsingland in Haines, Alaska. At the hotel, she grew her own vegetables and herbs and featured local seafood and food products. I am a Runner / Baker / Whole Food Lover! Chef Mark has extensive experience teaching holistic cooking techniques and principles at several leading culinary institutions in Southern California such as Sur la Table and LearningTreeUniversity in Newport Beach, CA & Laguna Culinary Arts. Mark was the featured chef for the Los Angeles Unified School District Nutrition Network ‘Chefs in the Classroom’ Program. He also designed the holistic menu items for the gourmet, boutique restaurant Savoury’s in Laguna Beach, CA and developed product support recipes for Gourmet Pacifica’s line of citrus infused avocado oils.
Carol Cannon, a graduate of the New York School of Feng Shui has been a Feng Shui Practitioner since 1993. She is also a certified Building-Biologie™ Environmental Consultant, a 1995 graduate from the International Institute of Bau-biologie and Ecology, Inc. A resident of Emmaus, PA, Carol’s passion is to help people find peace and joy in their lives. Carol is also a Master Himalayan Singing Bowl Practitioner. As an interior designer in Southern California for the last 16 years, Rachel has worked on projects as diverse as television shows, science centers, private residences and master planned communities. An active participant in the local green design community, Rachel is a Certified Green Building Professional, as well as a member of the U.S. Green Building Council Orange County chapter. She is deeply committed to promoting awareness of sustainable interior design, frequently speaking to schools and civic groups on the benefits and solutions available with green building practices.
